About Seth

Education

I earned my B.A. from The George Washington University in 2000 and a J.D. from St. John's University School of Law in 2003.  I am also proud to be the product of a Nassau County public school education (Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools).

Professional Life

I am a lawyer, admitted to practice in the states of New York and New Jersey, whose practice focuses primarily on public sector labor and employment law.  This has provided me with a great deal of real-world, hands-on experiences with the inner workings of municipalities, including school districts.  I am frequently called upon to negotiate and review contracts, including collective bargaining agreements, review municipal budgets, analyze local and state legislation, draft and assess a wide array of policies and procedures, among other things.

Business Owner

Since 2005, I have been managing partner and owner of a boutique law firm in Nassau County.  In this capacity, I must monitor and control finances, participate in hiring and personnel decisions, provide strategic planning and vision, implement administrative policies and procedures, and engage in the decision-making on insurance matters and benefits.

Family and Other Interests

In 2004, I married my wife, Melissa, a NYC elementary school teacher.  That same year, we bought our first house in Plainview, where we have lived ever since.  We have four children - Garrett, Summer, Bryson, and Tessa.  Garrett, age 15, is a student at POB JFK High School, who will be entering 10th Grade in the fall of 2022.  He enjoys sports, reading, video games, and card magic.  Summer, age 13, will be an 8th grade student at POB Middle School next year.  She loves cheering, baking, and Starbucks.  Our youngest son, Bryson, age 11, will be moving up to 6th grade at POBMS in September.  He loves sports (soccer and flag football in particular), legos, and pigs (yes, you read that right!).  Tessa, age 7, may be our youngest and littlest, but she has a big personality and is full of life.  She is a funny girl, who loves to play, cheer, read, and spend time with her siblings.  Like most POB families, we spend a lot of time attending and chauffering our kids to their various sports, extra-curricular activities, religious school, family/friend parties, and other get-togethers.  We still put aside important family time, though - where we go to parks and museums together, play board games, watch movies, and travel.

Volunteer Activities

I am past Chair of the New York State Bar Association’s Labor & Employment Law Section, served as alumnus advisor to a local college fraternal organization, and I continue to participate in Operation Standby, part of the American Bar Association’s Military Pro Bono Project.  I previously volunteered as a division head for the POB Soccer Club and most recently served as an assistant coach for PAL Basketball.
